In-state tuition and fees rose 16.1 percent for 2018-19 at Columbia Basin College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.
Washington residents paid $5,288 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $734 more than the $4,554 charged for 2017-18.
Non-residents paid 37.3 percent more than residents this year, or $7,258. Their price tag grew 11.1 percent from $6,530 in 2017-18.
About 98 percent of the school’s undergraduate population are Washington residents. And about 2 percent are residents of other states.
Data shows 66 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 541 students received grants or scholarships totaling $3.2 million and 61 students took out student loans totaling more than $284,906.
Including all undergraduates (7,034), 2,835 students used grants or scholarships totaling $13.9 million, and 543 students took out $3.2 million in federal student loans.
