Other counties in Eastern Washington have started the reopening process, but the Tri-Cities region has a long way to go before it can follow suit, Tri-City Herald reported.
While the number of COVID-19 cases per day have decreased in Franklin and Benton counties, the amount is still extremely high per capita compared to others in Washington, according to the news agency. But Franklin and Benton are only a couple of the 14 counties that haven’t been given the green light to transition into the second phase, which permits salons and bars to open their doors.
As of late May, those counties didn’t qualify to apply, Tri-City Herald reported.
Meanwhile, Adams, Columbia and Spokane have been allowed to open for Phase 2 and Grant County is qualified to apply for it.
Walla Walla County will also be applying for a variance to reach the second phase, though it’s not eligible yet.
