The Tri-Cities Black Lives Matter Coalition has teamed up with Reka Robinson of Power 99.1 to get the community involved in voting this November.
"I just truly believe that it's disrespectful to those who came before me who look like me and I was like black women were one of the last people to get that right and I just believe again it's disrespectful to not use your voice in a way that matters to you and that is how you use your voice by voting," Robinson told KEPR.
The target of the joint venture is to get people to register to vote. They also educate them on the local candidates' policies. Additionally, they let them know their voices matter.
"We just want to remind people that you matter, your opinion matters, your voice matters and even though people may be weary with the state of the world right now we have to remind people where the power is and the true power is in voting." Daishaundra Loving-Hearne, who is one of the organizers of the Black Lives Matter Coalition, told KEPR.
