NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Benton City staff has prepared proposed changes to Title 17, Subdivisions, of the Benton City Municipal Code. The Title sets forth the city’s policies and practices regarding divisions of land. Title 17 was adopted in 1981, and numerous changes to state law have occurred since.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the Benton City Planning Commission has scheduled a meeting for Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 6:00 pm. This meeting will accommodate virtual and in-person attendance. Please go to the City’s website and access the meeting agenda to obtain information on how to participate in the public hearing via the online format, and for instructions on how to make a public comment (www.ci.benton-city.wa.us) remotely. During the meeting, the Planning Commission will conduct a legislative public hearing to gather public input and to review the proposed Title 17 Subdivision Proposed Revisions. All interested parties are invited to participate in the hearing; comments may be made verbally or in writing.
NOTICE IS ALSO HEREBY GIVEN that the proposal is subject to environmental review. The City of Benton City is the lead agency for the proposal under the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) and reviewed the proposed non-project action for probable adverse environmental impacts and issued a determination of non-significance (DNS) for this proposal on March 25, 2022. The Comment period for the DNS concludes at 5:00 pm on April 8, 2022. The environmental checklist and related file information is available to the public upon request and will be sent to agencies with jurisdiction, the Washington State Department of Ecology, and others having an interest in the proposal.

You may provide written comments on the proposed Code Amendments to Benton City Municipal Code Title 17 (Subdivisions). Send written comments to the City Clerk, P.O. Box 70, Benton City, WA 99320. Written comments must be received by 5:00 pm, April 8, 2022 in order to be included in the staff report to the Planning Commission for their public hearing. Comments received later can still be included in future meeting reports or provided at the public hearing.
Any information submitted to Benton City is subject to the public records disclosure law for the State of Washington and all other applicable laws that may require release of documents to the public.
