This week in Tri Cities Area history.

Born May 25, 1978 – NFL linebacker with Pasco roots

Brian Urlacher was born on May 25, 1978, in Pasco, Washington. He later moved to Lovington, New Mexico, where he attended high school. He played college football at the University of New Mexico, where he earned All-American honors. In 2000, the Chicago Bears selected him ninth overall in the NFL Draft. Urlacher played 13 seasons with the Bears, all as a linebacker. He was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2000 and Defensive Player of the Year in 2005. He was selected to eight Pro Bowls and four First-Team All-Pro teams. His career statistics include 1,361 tackles, 41.5 sacks, and 22 interceptions. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2017 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018. Urlacher’s birthplace of Pasco remains a part of his story.
