Benton County designates $3.5 million in CARES Act funds grants to local businesses, nonprofits

Benton County businesses and nonprofits can now apply for up to $100,000 in grants from $3.5 million in federal CARES Act Community Support Grant Program funds designated for the use by the County Commissioners.

There is no repayment obligation with the funds, according to a release from Benton County. The Tri-City Development Council (TRIDEC) has been chosen to administer the grants, and applications can be accessed on their website.

The first round of applications is set to end at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, July 31, according to the TRIDEC website. The second round will go from Friday, Aug. 14 through Friday, Aug. 28. The final of applications is set to go from Friday, Sept. 11 through Friday, Sept. 25.

Organizations with fewer than 20 employees are eligible for up to $15,000 in grant funds, according to the press release. Those with between 20 and 99 employees are eligible for up to $50,000.

In order to receive the maximum grant amount permitted, $100,000, an organization must have at least 100 employees.

Grants are to be awarded to those meeting all other requirements through a random lottery selection.
